We celebrated Book Day 馃摎
On April 23rd, we celebrated Book Day and as an initiative to continue bringing books and encourage interest in reading in more people, Book Seekers carried out an activity known as "Book Route", where they took books to different areas inside and outside the city such as schools, squares, communities, and various establishments.
Additionally, at the end of the afternoon, there was a book exchange activity and talks dedicated to promoting reading in the Sidor Art Room in Ciudad Guayana, where, besides, you could take a free book and a CD.
The theme of this edition was centered around "Don Quixote of La Mancha" and they displayed different editions of this classic literature in an exhibition, followed by a discussion about the relationship between Quixote and medicine.
Book Seekers is an initiative with more than 14 years in the city, led by Mariela Mendoza, who has taken on the task of bringing books to new hands and promoting the habit of reading. Additionally, they support the neediest communities and school-age children by donating school supplies, among other things.
It is a place where different knowledge sectors converge, coming together to create wonderful things.
In my case, I chose the book "In Praise of Folly" by Erasmus of Rotterdam and selected an audiobook by Ernest Hemingway called "The Old Man and the Sea."
I believe that this type of activity is very important because it gives a second life to those books we have already read once and places them in new hands, fostering that essential reading habit.

Celebramos el d铆a del libro 馃摎
El pasado 23 de Abril, celebremos el d铆a del libro y como iniciativa para seguir llevando libros y despertar el interes de la lectura en m谩s personas, Buscadores de libros realizo una actividad conocida como "Ruta del Libro", donde llevaron libros a distintos sectores dentro y fuera de la ciudad a colegios, plazas, comunidades y distintos establecimientos.
Adem谩s, al finalizar la tarde, se realizo una actividad de intercambio de libros y charlas dedicadas al fomento de la lectura en la Sala de Arte Sidor en Ciudad Guayana, donde, adem谩s, pod铆as llevarte un libro gratis y un CD.
El tema de esta edici贸n se centro en "Don Quijote de la Mancha" y mostraron en exhibici贸n distintas ediciones de este cl谩sico de la literatura y luego, se dio lugar a una charla donde se estudiaba la relaci贸n del Quijote con la medicina.
Buscadores de libros es una iniciativa con mas de 14 a帽os en la ciudad, liderada por Mariela Mendoza, la cual se ha tomado la tarea de llevar libros a nuevas manos y fomentar el habito de la lectura. Adem谩s, de apoyar a las comunidades m谩s necesitados y a ni帽os en edad escolar gracias al donativo de utiles escolares, entre otras cosas.
Y es un lugar donde convergen distintos sectores del saber y se unen y crean cosas maravillosas.
En mi caso, escogi el libro de "Elogio de la locura" de Erasmo de R贸terdam y elegi un audiolibro de Ernest Hemingway llamado "El viejo y el mar"
Considero que este tipo de actividades son muy importantes porque le dan una segunda vida a aquellos libros que ya leimos en una oportunidad y los colocan en nuevas manos y adem谩s fomenta ese h谩bito fundamental de la lectura.
