Hello to all the Hive reading community! This time, I want to share a review of a book I read. I'm not much of a book reader, but I have read a few books, and I would like to tell you what I thought of it, and the reasons why I like or don't like it. Well, the book I want to talk about today was the first one I read, a few years ago. It's Eleanor & Park, a romance novel that takes us into the story of two somewhat outcast teenagers, who find comfort in each other. This story is set in the 80's, here we are introduced to Eleanor, a young girl who faces some abuse in her dysfunctional home... The other is Park, a boy who finds it very difficult to fit in, and as these types of kids are usually judged by their appearance (I felt very identified haha). The author managed to capture in a very good way the awkwardness that these two feel when sitting together, but, with the passage of a few days, a friendship is born, driven by their shared tastes, they like comics and music. Little by little... they discover that they have a lot in common, and their relationship becomes more personal!

Hola a toda la comunidad lectora de Hive! En esta oportunidad, quiero compartir una reseña de un libro que leí. No soy mucho de leer libros, pero si he llegado a leer unos cuantos, y pues me gustaría comentarles que me ha parecido, y las razones por las cuales me gustan o no me gustan. Bueno, el libro del cual quiero hablarles el día de hoy, fue el primero que leí, hace unos años.. Se trata de Eleanor & Park, una novela romántica que nos mete en la historia de dos adolescentes algo marginados, que encuentran consuelo en el otro. Esta historia está ambientada en la década de los 80’s, aquí se nos presenta a Eleanor, una joven que enfrenta algunos abusos en su hogar disfuncional.. El otro es Park, un muchacho que se le dificulta mucho encajar, y pues como a este tipo de chicos normalmente se le juzga por su apariencia (tremendamente identificado me sentí jaja). La autora logro capturar de muy buena manera la incomodidad que sienten estos dos al sentarse juntos, pero, con el paso de algunos días, nace una amistad, impulsada por sus gustos compartidos, les gustan los comics y la música. Poco a poco.. van descubriendo que tienen mucho en común, y su relación se va haciendo más personal!
 

What I feel that stands out the most in this work is the way in which the author addresses the issues and feelings of feeling excluded... domestic violence, and obviously school abuse. I didn't feel many stereotypes in these topics, we can quickly empathize with the protagonists, and with the other characters. For me, there was a good construction in these characters, it makes them look more complex, and not just simple victims, I liked that. Likewise, I thought the use of the 80's decade was great, like the comics and other things. I feel it gives use plus to the work. Although I must admit that sometimes I felt that the author focused too much on the "love relationship" neglecting the other conflicts that existed, such as family and social ones. I would have liked to see this explored much more, and how our protagonists manage to overcome these things, giving it much more focus.

Lo que siento que más destaca esta obra, es la manera en la que la autora aborda los temas y sensaciones de sentirse excluido.. la violencia intrafamiliar, y obviamente el abuso escolar. No sentí muchos estereotipos en estos temas, podemos empatizar rápidamente con los protagonistas, y con los demás personajes. Para mí, hubo una buena construcción en estos personajes, los hace ver más complejos, y no solo simples víctimas, eso me gusto. De igual manera, me pareció genial el uso de la década de los 80s, como los comics y demás cosas.. Siento que le da use plus a la obra. Aunque debo admitir que en ocasiones sentí que la autora se enfocó demasiado en la “relación amorosa” descuidando los demás conflictos que existían, como los familiares y los sociales. Me fuera gustado que se explorara mucho más esto, y de cómo nuestros protagonistas logran superar esas cosas dándole mucho más enfoque.

I really enjoyed this read, I felt it was fluid... And emotional, for the first book I read I liked it a lot. I felt a good and above all realistic relationship between the main characters, I think it is far above what you can find today. I was captivated from the beginning, it is a very good story that transmits you that faint hope and the strength of love, but without leaving aside the sad realities that sometimes teenagers face today, this I think was what touched me the most, as a person who was bullied in his adolescence, I identified with these situations ... But anyway, I thought this novel was good, and I recommend it, I give it a rating of... 4/5. If you like romantic and authentic stories, I'm sure you'll end up liking it! Greetings and take care!

Disfrute mucho esta lectura, siento que fue fluida.. Y emocional, para ser el primer libro que leí me agrado bastante. Sentí una buena y sobre todo realista relación entre los personajes principales, creo que está muy por encima de lo que se puede encontrar hoy día. Me cautivaron desde el inicio, es una muy buena historia que te transmite esa tenue esperanza y la fuerza del amor, pero sin dejar de lado las tristes realidades que a veces enfrentan los adolescentes actualmente, esto creo que fue lo que más me toco, como persona a la que molestaban en su adolescencia, me identifique bastante con estas situaciones.. Pero en fin, esta novela me pareció buena, y se las recomiendo, le doy de calificación un.. 4/5. Si te gustan las historias románticas y auténticas, seguro te termina gustando! Saludos y cuídense!
